Where have you been Smooth?????????

Man it's been awhile since I blogged but I think I will be getting back to it now. Alot has been happening since the last post. The album is still underway - like 1 more track to go. I've become a Voting Member of the Recording Academy aka GRAMMY'S (including a member of the Producers and Engineering Wing), a member of SoundExchange, and a member of the MusicFirst Coalition. I've performed on many shows, been out of town for Grammy Events (just voted for the 1st round of nominations), making some crazy music and just living life (good and bad). More shows are coming up (opening up for Lil KeKe, Kwanzaafest, headliner for "Now or Never" contest which will be having BET/Radio commercials featuring me and my artists, etc.) and more GRAMMY Events coming up in LA, Austin, Houston, etc.

Sleep has not been a friend due to work and music consuming most of my time but I have managed to get out on a date, kick it with a few friends, make some unbelievable connections with major people and find out more about my inner-self (lol). So in closing I've been busy so "Get Off My Back" (my new single - shamless plug). Major announcements coming mid-November about the album, Madame Ice album, new tracks from Shantel, shows and more. SO THA WEEKEND OF MAY 30 - JUNE 2

Ya boy went to Hollywood & Los Angeles, CA for the Katt Williams Celebrity Weekend to benefit the Los Angeles Foster Kids (DCFS). It was a great trip. I met Katt Williams, Snoop Dogg, Omarion, Pinky (Clifton Powell), Li Zane, the Lady of Rage (Hey Robin), Steph Jones of DTP, Magic Johnson, Daz & Soopafly of tha Dogg Pound, Kyla Pratt (what a beautiful young woman) and so many more. I took pictures, passed out promo cd and signed autographs. The amount of connections that were mad was unbelievable. Major props to Kuwn Dalini (with Metro Muzik the Union) for sending ya boy out there last minute. Big ups to Annette & Shao-Men of McFarland Enterprises for giving us the opportunity and taking care of me while I was there. Wut up KeeKee, Megadon, Connects... man LA shows much love.

The weekend went so well that I'll be going back out that way for several up-coming events so wait for more information. Meanwhile you can catch ya boy doing his thing Thursdays & Sundays @ Palm Beach (Downtow Dallas - Deep Ellum), Skillman Pub on June 18, in Midland TX on June 20, the 2008 DeSoto Hip-Hop Summit on June 21 and many more shows to be announced. I keep talking about it but the album is still in progress just because I have the time to make it a monster. I'm fighting with the last 3 spots to make sure its well-rounded so look for a release soon unless something major changes. It feels good to focus on myself for a change because I dont have to worry about somebody else not doing what it takes or blaming me for everything. What a beautiful summer it's about to be folks.

I'm getting on it....

I'm making it a mission to really get into the blogging experience now with all of the events I have coming up. I've just been so busy recording the album (I know its taking forever but were really working on getting the best sound possible & the right tracks to set it off), performing (did a show in Waco (saw my boy Tuck hollered at him for a minute), did a few shows at Palm Beach, got shows coming up in DeSoto, Midland, and in Dallas).

Big news will be announced right here on Friday about the 3 shows I have going on out-of-town this weekend. How I came up on this is amazing and I'm still tripping over it. The plane & hotel is taken care of, I'm pressing up the promo cds & finalizing my show discs - YA BOY IS READY.

I have a tenantive dat for the N.O.W. album - July 29 (digital) & August 12 (physical) - that date should be straight but I'm giving myself a 2 week window for pushing it back dependent on how soon I get the artwork done.

Alot has changed in the past 3 weeks from people leaving, being put on hold and new people joining the team. All in all I think the changes have allowed me to get up on my game like never before.

2008...

The year has been off to a slow start but picking up. I've performed at the MLK Parade After-Party, Palm Beach Club a few times, The Quintessence Lounge (in South Dallas - a crunk after-hours spot), the Kwanzaafest AGAIN with up-coming shows at Palm Beach, the American Airlines Center, Palm Beach, a few local high schools and some actual out-of town events (I'll keep ya posted if ya feel like hitting the road with me).

Were shooting the 1st part of the dual video from me ("100") & Madame Ice ("Fesh Whites") at Palm Beach Club (2816 Main St. Dallas, TX 75226) if you wanna be in the video holla at me.

The album, N.O.W. (No Otha Will) is 2 tracks away from being done - I had to push it back a few times for my medical reasons but I'm good NOW, so I have to keep it moving.

Oh one last thing, ya boy is finally about to get on his mission to get his proper documentation that says he knows what these haters think he doesn't. About to enroll to receive my Professional Certificate of Music Business or my Bachelor's of Science degree in Entertainment Business depending on which school I choose next month. What I already know added with music industry/business professionals knowledge (and one-on-one consulting) - ya'll in trouble NOW. LOL.

I'm back and moving in a new direction

My apologies for not making a new post in awhile - so much happening and time seems to escape my mental nowadays. "Take It Personal" has been postponed until late 2008 so I can get a few more tracks that dig deeper into the concept of the album, however I have had requests for a project to be completed so I'm finalizing a solo album entitled "N.O.W." (No Otha Will)so people can hear my music NOW (pun intended). The concept for this album comes from alot of people throwing around the phrase "Dallas Got Next" when these same people are doing nothing to make that a reality. Sure alot of artists here have talent but what about their business. The first argument is that they are not on a major or in competition with the majors so why have the business together, well because the new business model of the majors is to find artists & companies that have their "BUSINESS" together and who have sold product so it less work the majors have to do. You can run from it all day but it all comes back to having your business in order to make sure you get paid and to gain the attention of the labels - the music has become secondary. No Otha Will is my mission to show that I will do the things to have a complete package when no other artist or business will. I will write, rap, sing, produce and release a project independently of a major label yet go thru all the processes they would from mixing/mastering to marketing plans and promotion. Copyrights, contracts, industry organization membership (I qualify to become a voting member of the Grammys - application is underway), mobile content, digital & physical distribution, BDS/Mediabase/Soundscan/BMI/All Media Guide/etc registrations, radio airplay, live performances - everything from front to back, A-Z.

Over the past few months many have formed negative opinions about me because they think I read too many books, handle too much business or shouldn't protect my creative works when others steal them just because were all on a local level but the one thing that remains constant is that they still respect what I do (whether they publicly admit it or not). Of course everyone is not going to like you but if you earn it they must show the respect. This album focuses on that respect that I'm earning as a songwriter, singer, rapper, producer and executive. I'm not here to engage in any wars because my knowledge, experience and up-bringing is on levels that are far more ahead than the people who feel the constant need for "beef" or confrontation. Out of frustration and anger I have bowed to their idiotic level but no more. I'm focused on my career and life and I'm no longer concerned with others and their thoughts or ill-will towards me. To each his own - maybe I will see you at the top.
